Using scissors, cut the paper plate into a spiral starting on the outside edge and working your way to the center. Pulling on the paper plate gently will create the spiral snake. The will be the head of the snake. Glue a round circle of either felt or construction paper to the top of the snake. Glue the wiggle eyes on the round circle. Cut a tongue out of the red felt or construction paper and glue it to the round circle opposite the eyes.

This is a great craft to use when studying reptiles or teaching a number of Bible stories.

Insect Crafts

Cute Caterpillars

Supplies:
Small Craft Sticks
Small Pom Pom balls
Craft Glue
Wiggle Eyes
Chenille Wire
What to do:
Using the craft glue, glue pom pom balls on the craft stick in a line. Place wiggle eyes on the front pom pom. Clip the chenille wire to make short antennae. Let dry completely before sending home with the child.

Watercolor Dragonflies

Supplies:
Coffee Filters (cone shape)
Water Color paint
Craft SticksWiggle Eyes
Chenille Wire
Glue or glue gun
What to do:
Cut the sides off the coffee filters, leaving the bottom intact. Open the coffee filter and lay flat. Gather up the center of the filter to create wings and wrap a small piece of wire around the center. Using the glue (or glue gun with adult supervision) glue the gathered "wings" to the craft stick on the upper 1/3 of the stick. Once the "wings" are securely attached to the craft stick, paint the wings using water color paints. This creates beautiful wings as the coffee filter soaks in the paint. Let dry. Then glue wiggle eyes to the end and small pieces of chenille wire as antennae.

You can use fishing line and hang from the ceiling. This will create a room full of flying Dragonflies.

Preschool Easter Crafts

Easy Stained Glass

Supplies:
Construction Paper - Brown or Black
Tissue Paper - two colors cut or ripped into 1 inch squares
Contact Paper - clear

What to do:
Cut frames out of the brown or black construction paper. Cut squares out of the contact paper to fit the frame. Remove the backing from the contact paper. Using one color of tissue paper, make a cross on the sticky side of the contact paper. Using the other color of tissue paper, fill in the remaining space on the contact paper. Be careful to leave enough sticky space along the edges for the frame. After the frame is in place, hang in a window so the sun can shine through the "stained glass". The project can also be laminated for durability.

Hint: Any pattern can be created on the contact paper.

Preschool Mother's Day Crafts

Hand Print Flowers

Supplies:
dow sticks 1/8" - 1 per child
precut craft foam flowers large enough for a hand print
fabric safe paint
small sponge for each color paint
craft glue or glue gun

What to do:
Using the sponge, dab paint onto the child's hand, not to much or it will smudge. Have the child firmly place his hand onto the flower, leaving behind his hand print.

Once the paint has dried, print the childs name and age on the back of the flower. Using craft glue have the child glue the dow stick onto the back of the flower. A hot glue gun will be faster, but must be supervised by an adult!

Have the child take it home to mom as a keepsake she will always remember.

Easy Scented Sachets

Supplies:
Felt cut into heart shapes
Scented dryer sheets
Glue
Beads or other decorative items

What to do:
Cut two hearts out of felt. Glue the two pieces together leaving a small opening. Stuff the scented dryer sheet into the heart and glue the opening closed. Allow the child to decorate the heart as he or she wished to.
